How It Works

Browserless scrapes the page content. n8n calls Browserless through an HTTP Request, pulls back the readable content, and hands it to Gemini so the AI works from the actual article instead of guessing.

Step-by-Step Implementation Guide

Step 1: Configure the Chat Trigger

This workflow starts when a chat message is received, passing a URL to the agent for processing.

  1. Add or open Chat Message Trigger.
  2. Set Public to true so external chat messages can initiate the workflow.
  3. Save the node to generate its webhook endpoint for chat-based inputs.

Use a test chat message containing a valid article URL to validate the full automation flow.

Step 2: Connect Notion and Discord Outputs

The agent will save research to Notion and notify a Discord channel when the page is created.

  1. Open Notion Save Utility and select your target database in Database. Replace [YOUR_ID] with the correct Notion database ID.
  2. Verify the title field expression is set to {{ $fromAI('Title', `The original title of the article!`, 'string') }} so the agent populates it automatically.
  3. Open Discord Alert Sender and set Guild and Channel by replacing [YOUR_ID] with your server and channel IDs.
  4. Confirm Content uses {{ $fromAI('Message', `Start with an :information_source: emoji. Then tell the chat that the action has been completed.`, 'string') }} for the completion notice.

Step 3: Set Up the Article Capture Agent

  1. Open Article Capture Agent and review the System Message to ensure it instructs scraping, saving to Notion, and sending a Discord alert.
  2. Confirm the agent is connected to Web Page Scraper Tool, Notion Save Utility, and Discord Alert Sender as AI tools.
  3. Set Execute Once to true so the agent only runs once per trigger message.

The AI tool nodes are controlled by Article Capture Agent; tool credentials and access should be configured on the tool nodes, but orchestration happens in the agent.

Step 4: Configure the AI Model and Web Scraper Tool

The model powers the agent’s reasoning, and the scraper fetches the article content for analysis.

  1. Open Gemini Pro Model and set Model Name to models/gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25.
  2. Credential Required: Connect your googlePalmApi credentials in Gemini Pro Model.
  3. Open Web Page Scraper Tool and set URL to http://browserless:3000/content.
  4. Set Method to POST and Specify Body to json.
  5. Set JSON Body to { "url": "{url}", "gotoOptions": { "waitUntil": "networkidle0" } } so the tool can accept the URL from the agent.

⚠️ Common Pitfall: The scraper expects a {url} placeholder. If you change the JSON body format, the agent may not be able to scrape properly.
