Managed IT should be something you never think about

Reliable IT operations are the foundation of every business. When everything works, nobody notices — but when something breaks, the entire organisation grinds to a halt. Flowpast takes responsibility for keeping your systems, servers, networks, and workstations available, secure, and up to date. We work proactively with monitoring and maintenance so that problems are detected and resolved before your team even notices.

For most small and mid-sized businesses, building an in-house IT department doesn’t make financial sense. You want to focus on your core business, not on patch management, expiring certificates, and backups that need verifying. With Flowpast as your managed IT partner, you get an outsourced IT department with fixed monthly pricing, clear SLAs, and a named contact who knows your environment deeply. The result: less disruption, lower risk, and predictable costs.

Our managed IT services in detail

Six core areas where we take responsibility for keeping your systems running.

👁️

System monitoring & alerting

Proactive 24/7 monitoring of servers, networks, cloud services, and backups. Alerts are routed directly to the right engineer so problems are resolved before users notice them.

💻

Workplace as a service

Management of your laptops, mobiles, and peripherals — from deployment and standard configuration to security, updates, and remote wipe if a device is lost. Consistent experience for every employee.

🔄

Patch & update management

Automated deployment of security and software updates following a clear policy. Controlled maintenance windows that minimise disruption, with testing on pilot groups before broad rollout.

💾

Backup & disaster recovery

Backup following the 3-2-1 principle with at least one immutable copy. Clear RPO/RTO targets, regular recovery testing, and a documented DR plan for critical systems.

🛡️

Security governance

Robust security governance with MFA, Conditional Access, EDR, and regular vulnerability scans. We follow industry standards and report status monthly.

🎫

Service desk & helpdesk

Professional user support via portal, phone, and email. Same engineer every time, clear response times, and documentation that follows — so problems never need to be explained from scratch.

Three ways to outsource your IT operations

Choose a level based on how much you want to outsource and how much control you want to keep.

🧩

Supplementary IT

You have an internal IT function but need reinforcement in specific areas — monitoring, patching, backup, or Microsoft 365. We complement your existing team without taking over.

Best for: Companies with internal IT that want to offload specific functions.

⚙️

Managed IT operations

We take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of your systems, servers, and network. You retain strategic oversight and architecture decisions but avoid the operational burden. Fixed monthly pricing, clear SLA.

Best for: Companies that want to avoid operational IT but keep strategic control.

🏢

Outsourced IT department

Flowpast acts as your IT team: strategy, operations, support, security, cloud services, and advisory — all under one roof. You get specialist expertise without hiring, with full cost control.

Best for: Companies without an IT department that want a complete IT function.

How we take over your IT operations

Four steps from first conversation to stable, proactive IT — without business disruption.

1

Current state assessment

We map your systems, servers, licences, permissions, and documentation. You get a clear picture of what works and what needs addressing before the handover.

2

Transition plan

We create a plan with timeline, responsibilities, and SLAs. Parallel operations are established to minimise risk and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

3

Handover

We take over access, monitoring, backups, and routines in controlled stages. Your business keeps running throughout — users often don’t notice anything at all.

4

Stabilisation & management

After the handover, we follow up with a stabilisation period, an improvement action list, and ongoing monthly reports with status updates and recommendations.

Why businesses choose Flowpast for managed IT

What makes us different from typical MSPs and large IT operations providers.

💰

Predictable costs

Fixed monthly pricing based on number of users, servers, and services. No surprises at the end of the month, no unclear extras — you know exactly what your IT operations cost.

👤

Same engineer every time

You get a named contact who learns your environment, your processes, and your business. No support pool where you have to explain everything from scratch every time something happens.

🤝

Everything under one roof

IT support, operations, security, cloud services, AI automation, and strategy from the same team. You don’t need to coordinate between multiple providers when you need to make changes.

Frequently asked questions about managed IT

How much does managed IT cost?
Pricing is typically based on number of users, number of servers, which cloud services are included, and the level of security you need. For a smaller business with 10–30 users, it’s usually between £800–2,000 per month depending on scope. Larger organisations or those with specific SLA and on-call requirements pay more. We always work with fixed monthly pricing where you know exactly what’s included — no surprise invoices. After a free consultation, we can give you a clear estimate.

What’s the difference between managed IT and IT support?
IT support is about helping users when something goes wrong — passwords that stop working, printers that jam, email that won’t sync. Managed IT is the proactive side: monitoring, patching, backup, security, user management, and everything that needs to work in the background so that support tickets are as few as possible. The two services belong together and are usually delivered as one. With Flowpast, you get both from the same team.

Can you take over our existing IT without disruption?
Yes — we handle transitions as controlled projects in stages. First we document the current environment, secure access, and set up parallel monitoring. The actual cutover typically happens outside business hours with clear rollback scenarios if anything doesn’t go as planned. In practice, users often don’t notice anything at all — the only thing they discover is that support suddenly gets faster and the same engineer answers every time.

What SLAs do you offer?
We set SLAs based on ticket priority and your business criticality. Typical levels are: critical incidents (outage affecting the entire business) — response within 15 minutes during business hours, high priority (critically affecting individual users) within 1 hour, and normal priority within 4 hours. For clients with particularly critical systems, we can set up on-call and 24/7 coverage. All SLAs are clearly documented in the contract and tracked in monthly reports.

Do you manage both cloud and on-premises environments?
Yes — we manage public cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS), hybrid setups, and on-premises environments. Many of our clients have a mix where some systems are in the cloud and others on-premises for various reasons — often legacy business systems that can’t easily be migrated. We tie the environments together with unified identity via Entra ID, secure network connections, and consistent security policies so users experience a seamless IT environment regardless of where systems actually run.

What happens if we want to switch providers later?
We work without long lock-in periods and document everything so that a potential provider switch is as smooth as possible. All configuration, all access credentials, all documentation, and all procedures belong to you — not us. If you ever want to switch, we prepare a complete handover package for the new provider or your internal IT team. Transparency and absence of lock-in are important to us.

How quickly can you start managing our IT?
For a smaller business with a standard environment, we can have monitoring and basic operations running within 1–2 weeks after signing. A complete takeover with full documentation, routine monitoring, backup, and security work typically takes 3–6 weeks. For larger or more complex environments, we allow 1–3 months for a controlled transition. The timeline is always set together with you in the transition plan.

What’s included in your monthly report?
The monthly report typically includes: incident statistics (ticket count, types, resolution times, SLA compliance), patching and security update status, backup status with recovery test results, capacity data for servers and storage, changes implemented during the period, and an action list with improvement recommendations. You receive the report at the beginning of each month and we review it together as needed.
