How much does a software development project cost?

The cost depends entirely on scope. An internal AI assistant against existing documents typically falls between £8,000 and £25,000 depending on data sources and functionality. We always start with a requirements workshop where you get a clear estimate before we sign a contract — you should never start a project without knowing what it will cost.

How long does a typical project take?

Timelines vary significantly with complexity. A basic API integration can be done in 2–4 weeks, a client portal in 2–4 months, and a larger custom business application in 4–9 months. We work in agile iterations of 1–2 weeks so you can see progress and adjust direction as needed. Many projects are delivered in phases where an MVP goes live after a few months, with further development based on real-world usage.

We have a legacy system that’s becoming unsustainable. Can you help?

Yes — legacy system modernisation is one of our most common project types. We start with a technical assessment of your current solution — code, architecture, databases, dependencies, documentation — and produce a modernisation plan. Can you integrate with our business system (ERP, CRM)?

Yes — we have experience integrating with most major business systems: Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite, and many more. If the system has an API — which most modern systems do — we can integrate with it. For older systems without APIs, we can build integrations via database connections, file transfer, or other methods. What is RAG and how is it used in AI solutions?

RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) is an architecture where a language model like GPT or Claude gets access to your own documents and data when answering questions. Instead of relying solely on what the model learned during training, the system first retrieves relevant information from your documents, then uses that information to generate a response. It’s perfect for internal knowledge assistants where employees need to ask questions against employee handbooks, product documentation, or internal processes. We build RAG solutions with Azure AI Search and OpenAI or Claude depending on your requirements.

What does ongoing management look like after the system is live?

We offer several levels of management depending on your needs. At minimum, we stand ready when urgent issues arise and keep the platform updated with security patches. More comprehensive agreements include ongoing development, new features, performance monitoring, backup, and incident management. All our projects are delivered with documentation so that you or another provider could take over management if you ever want to switch — we place no value on lock-in.

Do you only build in the Microsoft stack?

The Microsoft stack (Azure, .NET, Power Platform, Microsoft 365) is our primary expertise because that’s where most SMBs get the best value and tightest integration with their existing environment. But we’re not dogmatic — for frontend projects we often work with React/TypeScript/Next.js, and for AI we use OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and open models depending on what fits best. Technology choices should be driven by what you need, not by what we’re comfortable with.

Do we own the source code?

Absolutely. All source code we write for you is your property from day one — it’s stated in the contract and we deliver code to your own Git repositories (GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or whatever you prefer). You have full access to all code, documentation, CI/CD pipelines, and environment configurations. This means you can choose to take over management yourself, switch providers, or continue with us — it’s entirely your choice. We believe transparency and absence of lock-in are the best guarantees of a long-term relationship.
