Step by Step

A schedule triggers the run. n8n starts this workflow every week by default, so you’re not relying on someone to remember “market check day.” If you want faster monitoring, you can switch it to daily or every 6 hours.

Scrapeless crawls your LoopNet URL. The Web Crawl Fetch step loads the results page and returns the listing content in structured Markdown, which is much easier to parse than raw web HTML.

Step-by-Step Implementation Guide

Step 1: Configure the Schedule Trigger

Set the workflow to run on a weekly schedule that kicks off the scraping process.

  1. Add and open Scheduled Market Kickoff.
  2. Set the Rule interval to weekly with Trigger At Day set to 1 and Trigger At Hour set to 9.
  3. Confirm the node is connected to Web Crawl Fetch to start the execution flow.

Step 2: Connect Scrapeless and Configure the Crawl

Set up the web crawler that fetches listing pages from LoopNet.

  1. Add and open Web Crawl Fetch.
  2. Credential Required: Connect your scrapelessApi credentials.
  3. Set Resource to crawler and Operation to crawl.
  4. Set URL to https://www.loopnet.com/search/commercial-real-estate/los-angeles-ca/for-lease/.
  5. Set Limit Crawl Pages to 2.

Step 3: Set Up the Listing Parser Logic

Parse the crawler markdown output and extract listing details like title, link, size, year built, and image.

  1. Add and open Listing Parser Logic.
  2. Paste the provided JavaScript into JavaScript Code exactly as shown to extract listing fields.
  3. Ensure Listing Parser Logic is connected to Update Sheet Records.

Tip: The parser returns an error object when no listings match. Use this output to debug the crawler’s markdown if your sheet stays empty.

Step 4: Configure the Output to Google Sheets

Append or update listing records in your target spreadsheet.

  1. Add and open Update Sheet Records.
  2. Credential Required: Connect your Google Sheets credentials.
  3. Set Operation to appendOrUpdate.
  4. Set Document ID to [YOUR_ID] and choose the spreadsheet named Real Estate Market Report.
  5. Set Sheet Name to Sheet1 (gid 0).
  6. Map the columns using expressions: Link{{ $json.link }}, Size{{ $json.size }}, Image{{ $json.image }}, Title{{ $json.title }}, YearBuilt{{ $json.yearBuilt }}.
  7. Set Matching Columns to Title to update existing rows when titles match.

⚠️ Common Pitfall: If the Google Sheet headers do not exactly match Title, Link, Size, YearBuilt, and Image, rows may fail to update or create duplicates.

Run a manual test to confirm the crawl, parsing, and sheet updates work end-to-end.

  1. Click Execute Workflow to run the workflow manually.
  2. Verify Web Crawl Fetch returns crawl results and Listing Parser Logic outputs structured listing fields.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Scrapeless credentials can expire or need specific permissions. If things break, check your Scrapeless Dashboard API key status and your n8n credential entry first.
  • If you’re using Wait nodes or external rendering, processing times vary. Bump up the wait duration if downstream nodes fail on empty responses.
