Step 1: Configure the Manual Trigger

Start the workflow with a manual trigger so you can test and iterate quickly.

  1. Add Manual Launch Trigger as the trigger node.
  2. Connect Manual Launch Trigger to Retrieve Bright Data Tools as shown in the execution flow.

Step 2: Connect Bright Data Tools

Initialize Bright Data tool access and map your input parameters for the research session.

  1. Open Retrieve Bright Data Tools and connect credentials. Credential Required: Connect your mcpClientApi credentials.
  2. In Map Input Parameters, set base_url to https://www.producthunt.com.
  3. Set category to resumes, search to The best resume tools in 2025, and engine to google.
  4. Set webhook_url to https://example.com/webhook (replace with your real endpoint).
  5. Connect Map Input Parameters to Define Agent Task.
⚠️ Common Pitfall: Forgetting to update webhook_url will cause Dispatch Webhook Update to fail during testing.

Step 3: Set Up the Agent Task and LLM Orchestration

Define the agent instructions and connect the AI model and tools that perform research and scraping.

  1. In Define Agent Task, set agent_operation to =Perform a Product Hunt data extract.
  2. In LLM Agent Orchestrator, set Text to ={{ $json.agent_operation }}

    Ouput the data in a clean and human readable format. Output only the tool response.

Configure External Search Tool with toolName search_engine, operation executeTool, and toolParameters ={ "query": "{{ $('Map Input Parameters').item.json.search }}", "engine": "{{ $('Map Input Parameters').item.json.engine }}" } . Credential Required: Connect your mcpClientApi credentials on the parent LLM Agent Orchestrator.
  5. Configure Markdown Scrape Tool with toolName scrape_as_markdown and toolParameters ={ "url": "{{ $('Map Input Parameters').item.json.base_url }}/categories/{{ encodeURI($('Map Input Parameters').item.json.category) }}" } . Credential Required: Connect your mcpClientApi credentials on the parent LLM Agent Orchestrator.
Tip: External Search Tool and Markdown Scrape Tool are AI tools connected to LLM Agent Orchestrator, so credentials should be configured on the parent LLM setup even if tools show separate credential slots.

Step 4: Configure Structured Parsing

Parse the agent’s output into structured data and map it to a schema.

  1. In Parse Structured Insights, set Text to =Extract the links, keywords, description from {{ $('LLM Agent Orchestrator').item.json.output }}

    Construct the links with the base url as {{ $('Map Input Parameters').item.json.base_url }}
    and keep hasOutputParser enabled.
  2. Connect Gemini Model for Parsing as the language model for Parse Structured Insights and set modelName to models/gemini-2.0-flash-exp. Credential Required: Connect your googlePalmApi credentials on Gemini Model for Parsing.
  3. Open Structured Output Mapper and keep schemaType as manual with inputSchema set to { "type": "array", "properties": { "link": { "type": "string" }, "desc": { "type": "string" } } }. This output parser is attached to Parse Structured Insights, so credentials (if needed) should be added to the parent node.
  4. Connect Parse Structured Insights to Log Structured Data Sheet.

Step 5: Configure Output Destinations and File Storage

Persist both the raw and structured outputs to files, webhooks, and Google Sheets.

  1. In Build Binary Payload, keep the functionCode as provided to convert JSON to base64 for file writing.
  2. In Save Structured File, set operation to write and fileName to =d:\ProductData.json.
  3. In Dispatch Webhook Update, set url to ={{ $('Map Input Parameters').item.json.webhook_url }} and enable sendBody. Add a body parameter named product_info with value ={{ $json.output }}.
  4. In Sync Agent Output Sheet, set operation to appendOrUpdate, map the output field to ={{ $json.output.toJsonString() }}, and select your documentId and sheetName. Credential Required: Connect your googleSheetsOAuth2Api credentials.
  5. In Log Structured Data Sheet, set operation to appendOrUpdate, map the structured_data field to ={{ $json.output.toJsonString() }}, and select your documentId and sheetName. Credential Required: Connect your googleSheetsOAuth2Api credentials.
⚠️ Common Pitfall: The file path d:\ProductData.json is Windows-specific. Update it if you run n8n on Linux or Docker.

Execution Flow Note: LLM Agent Orchestrator outputs to both Build Binary Payload and Dispatch Webhook Update and Sync Agent Output Sheet and Parse Structured Insights in parallel.

Step 6: Test and Activate Your Workflow

Run a manual test to validate the parallel outputs and confirm structured data logging.

  1. Click Execute Workflow on Manual Launch Trigger to run the workflow manually.
  2. Verify Save Structured File writes the file at d:\ProductData.json and check the JSON structure.
  3. Confirm Dispatch Webhook Update returns a success response from your webhook endpoint.

  • Bright Data credentials can expire or be tied to the wrong zone. If things break, check your Bright Data Control Panel (zone name and API token) first.
